How To Get Your Business Listed On The New Local Search Results

Before the Internet decided to rule the world, customers typically found local products and services from a directory. It was almost an un-written rule that if you wanted to attract local customers, you would put an ad or listing in the Yellow Pages and patiently wait for eager customers to give you a call. Things today are obviously very different.

Such has been the demise of the printed directory that companies like the Yellow Pages have had to diversify their product offering, now supplying web design and digital marketing services in an attempt to address the loss in print advertising revenues. The culprit for this radical change in behaviour is the local search results within the search engines.

Surprisingly it’s an area that’s often overlooked by local businesses.

When compared to improving your rankings in the more traditional organic rankings, it’s often a much easier and more effective strategy. The local search listings often appear above the rest of the organic search results and can be a great tactic for driving local web and mobile customers through to your site.

Reviews

Every time a customer leaves a review, they have the option to leave a star rating out of 5. These reviews (with the star ratings) will then show up on your local search result. Having these unbiased appraisals of your business not only draw attention to your business listing, but as a result they can increase the click through rate and traffic through to your website.

While there is a myriad of additional areas to consider, the above should give you a good start when trying to improve your local search results. For more detailed information on how to attract local customers to your website, visit Digital in Kent conference on the 12th November 2015.
